Prevent risks.
Equip teams to act.
Identify psychosocial risks, abuse of power, harassment, violence and retaliation. Work with your teams to develop prevention, reporting and response protocols, then train people to use them.
A focused assessment, workshops, a complete internal system or ongoing support: the scope is tailored to your practices, size and resources.
Based in Vevey, PORTA confiance works on the Vaud Riviera, in Lausanne and Geneva. Meetings can take place at your premises or in a coworking space agreed together; online meetings may also be considered depending on the assignment.
Managing risks to people in practice
Prevention starts with understanding how your organisation actually works: work organisation, power dynamics, responsibilities, barriers to speaking up and existing responses. Interviews, practice reviews and risk mapping help identify vulnerabilities, resources and priorities. Depending on your context, the work can cover psychosocial risks, harassment, abuse, exploitation, violence and retaliation.
Responses developed with the people involved
Management provides decisions and resources. Teams contribute their knowledge of day-to-day practices. Together we agree who to consult, which workshops are useful and which interviews should be held separately to support open discussion. Participation follows roles and needs; it does not require everyone to attend every stage.
From assessment to practice
- 01
Understand and map
Interviews and review of existing practices and procedures. Identify risks, assess their possible effects and prioritise needs in light of available resources.
- 02
Develop protocols together
Workshops with relevant participants to define prevention, access to support, reporting, protection and response. Clarify who receives concerns, who examines them, who decides and how conflicts of interest are handled.
- 03
Train and test
Train people for their roles. Concrete scenarios test pathways, tools and decisions, allowing unclear points to be adjusted.
- 04
Implement and follow up
Develop an action plan, assign responsibilities and set milestones. Support communication, implementation and review within the agreed scope.
What you take away
- A map of risks and priorities.
- Prevention, reporting and response protocols with clear responsibilities.
- Practical tools and people trained to use them.
- An implementation plan and follow-up arrangements.
Deliverables are agreed in the assignment: they can form a complete system or address a specific need.
Experience from assessment through to training
While working with Terre des hommes, Nadège Porta carried out a three-week assignment in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, covering safeguarding, abuse and exploitation risks, as well as psychosocial risks. She led risk identification, developed a plan in consultation with teams, created operational procedures and trained all the people concerned across the different intervention settings.
This experience informs a method: start with field realities, consult teams and translate decisions into practices. Each assignment in Switzerland is adapted to the responsibilities, resources and framework of the organisation concerned.
Workshops to build responses, not just share information
PORTA confiance LAB workshops are one format within this service. They can map risks, develop protocols, explore power dynamics or test response scenarios. Situations are adapted to avoid exposing individuals or addressing an individual allegation in a group.
PORTA confiance LAB →Frequently asked questions
Can we work on prevention before an incident occurs?
Yes. The work can focus on vulnerabilities, practices and response preparedness without waiting for a conflict or a report.
Does everyone in the organisation need to participate?
Participants and formats are agreed with management according to the need. Representative participation, focused workshops and separate interviews can complement each other.
Can an existing system be improved?
Yes. We identify what works, what is missing and the priorities. The assignment can focus on adjustments, training or follow-up.
A clearer framework for everyone
People know where to seek support. Those responsible have guidance for responding to difficulties. Your organisation can coordinate existing resources rather than add disconnected processes.
A small organisation may need an external contact and a short procedure. A more complex organisation may require several channels, differentiated responsibilities and follow-up. Deliverables and scope are agreed with you.
